Appreciation: Nigel John Cooper McClusky

1937 – 2014

After leaving Ashville, Nigel qualified as a barrister-at-law which he practised in the North Eastern Circuit, his chambers being in Leeds. He also became a deputy circuit judge.

He was married to Rosemary and had two children; Christina and Joleon (better known as Tina and Joe), both of whom attended Ashville in the 1980s and he had four grandchildren.

Whilst living in Knaresborough, he was a keen supporter of the Royal British Legion and The Old People’s Welfare Association.

He retired to Cornwall where he lived very happily for over 20 years with Rosemary, working tirelessly for various charities including Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign and Cornwall Hospice Care, as well as raising money for the village’s church and village hall. He also read to local school children on a regular basis.

He was a keen walker, swimmer, photographer and traveller.

Information Update

We are attempting to improve our current database of information on old Ashvillians in the hope that we can put it to better use in future to help both past and present students.

It would be really useful if you could fill in this quick online form with your current details (even if you think we have them).

Many thanks.

If you have a story, feature, letter or photograph you would like to submit to the website or the Update, please email Tom.

And thank you for your contributions without which the Update would not exist!
