28th June 2014
OAs from seven decades were joined by partners, former and current members of staff and this year’s leavers, for a black tie dinner at Ashville on the evening of Saturday 28th June.
Following a drinks reception in the newly-refurbished foyer, where the guests were entertained by the Ashville Jazz Band, a three-course dinner was served in the dining room.
After dinner, Immediate Past President David Bulmer proposed the Loyal Toast; Headmaster Mark Lauder – who not only outlined the highlights and achievements of the last 12 months but also spoke about future developments at Ashville College – proposed the Toast to the Society, and Ashvillian Society President Nick Breton thanked the committee for their work, introduced vice-president elect Kirstin Barnes and paid tribute to Clare Dolman who is leaving at the end of term, before proposing the Toast to the School.
The guests then moved to the Soothill Hall, which was officially reopened earlier this year by OA Jim Carter following a £2.25 programme of improvements, to reminisce about the “old days” and enjoy the sounds of the school’s Soul Band.
